The French Alps, kosher, via Lyon
ski in winter, lakes in summer, one request for everything kosher
Most Jewish families who ski in the French Alps land in Lyon, two to three hours from Val Thorens, Courchevel, Megève or Alpe d'Huez. Mishpacha Tours is your one contact on the way up and in the resort: a private tour of Jewish Lyon between the plane and the drive, kosher shopping before you climb, and in the resort a chef, delivered meals, Shabbat, the holidays, a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates, organised by our kosher team based in the Alps. You send your resort, your dates and your group. We come back with one answer and one quote. We sell no transport and no stay.
- Val Thorens 2 h 30 from Lyon airport
- Chef, meals, Shabbat, minyan in the resort
- Stopover: 3 h in Jewish Lyon between flight and slopes
- Checked 8 October 2026

Four things we do for your Alpine week
- Kosher services in the resort. A chalet with a private chef, hot meals delivered to your apartments or hotel, Shabbat meals with challot and wine, Hanukkah, Purim or Pesach in the mountains, a minyan and a Sefer Torah when several families share a resort. Every service, one request.
- The Stopover, 3 hours in Jewish Lyon. Your transfer drops you in Vieux Lyon and picks you up three hours later. Bags stay in the van. You walk rue Juiverie and go inside the Grande Synagogue on quai Tilsitt, closed to visitors outside the Heritage Days. 390 € per group of 1 to 5. The Stopover tour.
- Kosher ski, resort by resort. Where the minyan is in winter, which resorts have a Chabad house, what Shabbat looks like on the mountain, what to buy in Lyon before you go up. Kosher ski holidays in the French Alps.
- Summer in the Alps. Lakes, hikes and long evenings, with the communities of Annecy, Aix-les-Bains and Grenoble within reach, and a minyan in the resort for your dates. Summer in the Alps for Jewish families.
From Lyon airport to your resort
Typical drive times from Lyon-Saint-Exupéry, without traffic, as listed by the ski directory j2ski.com. On a Saturday in February, or in snow, add an hour or more.

- Courchevel, Megève, Les Gets, Les Deux Alpes: about 2 h 10
- Morzine, Alpe d'Huez: about 2 h 20
- Val Thorens: about 2 h 30
- Tignes, Val d'Isère: about 2 h 40
Certified kosher groceries and butchers are in Lyon and Villeurbanne, not at the airport and rarely in the resort. Shopping list, shuttles and private transfers: Lyon, the gateway to the Alps.
How it works
- 1
Tell us
Resort, dates, number of people, and what you need: the Stopover in Lyon, a chef, delivered meals, Shabbat, a holiday, a minyan. By WhatsApp or with the form at the bottom of this page.
- 2
We put it together
The same day, we check with our team in the Alps what is possible for your dates and your resort, and we block the Stopover with your guide in Lyon. One contact from start to finish.
- 3
You get one quote
The price depends on the resort, the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit to anything. The Stopover is 390 € per group, fixed.
The resorts we cover
- The Grenoble side. Alpe d'Huez, Les Deux Alpes, Chamrousse and Serre Chevalier, plus Val Thorens and Les Menuires in the Belleville valley: meals, chalets, Shabbat, holidays, minyan and Sefer Torah.
- The Courchevel side. Courchevel 1850 and Megève have a Chabad house in winter: we coordinate with it for your minyan and your Shabbat.
- Any other resort. Tignes, Val d'Isère, La Plagne, Les Arcs, Chamonix, Morzine: send your dates, we tell you the same day what is possible.
Strictly kosher. Our team in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps; ask for the supervision details in writing with your quote. Shomer Shabbat: nothing is delivered or guided on Shabbat or on a holiday, everything is set before candle lighting.
Safety, without alarm
A private group only, meeting points and routes fixed in advance, a guide who is part of the Lyon community, and a professional escort on request and on quote, in Lyon or in the resort. Our standard and the sourced facts are on Is Lyon safe for Jewish visitors?.

The Alps via Lyon: questions
Do you sell the ski holiday itself?
No. We sell the Stopover tour in Lyon, and we organise kosher services in the resort through our team in the Alps, who quote and invoice them. You book your flights, your transfer and your accommodation yourself.
We land in Lyon on Sunday and drive to Val Thorens the same day. Can we fit the Stopover?
Yes, if you land before early afternoon. Send your landing time and the time your transfer must leave; we build the three hours around it, and you reach the resort on schedule.
Can you deliver kosher meals to an apartment in Val Thorens or Alpe d'Huez?
Yes, for a family or a group, for the week, with notice. Send your resort, your dates and the number of people; you receive a written quote.
Is there a minyan in the resort?
Courchevel 1850 and Megève have a Chabad house in winter. Elsewhere, a minyan depends on how many families are in the resort that week: give us your dates early and we group them, with a Sefer Torah.
Which airport, Lyon or Geneva?
Lyon serves the Tarentaise and the Grenoble side (Val Thorens, Courchevel, Méribel, Alpe d'Huez, Les Deux Alpes) in two to three hours, with kosher shopping in the city on the way. Geneva is closer for Chamonix and the Portes du Soleil. We guide in Lyon only.
In which language?
The Stopover is guided in English, French or Spanish. Hebrew-speaking guests are guided in English. WhatsApp and quotes in English, French or Hebrew.
