Zermatt, strictly kosher
under the Matterhorn, in a village without cars
Zermatt sits at about 1,600 m in the Valais, at the foot of the Matterhorn, and no petrol car drives into the village.
Zermatt sits at about 1,600 m in the Valais, at the foot of the Matterhorn, and no petrol car drives into the village: you leave the car in Täsch and take the train. The ski area climbs to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3,883 m and runs across the mountain into Cervinia, in Italy. Mishpacha Tours organises the kosher side of your stay here: a private chef in your chalet, hot meals delivered to your apartment, Shabbat, the holidays, and a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates. One request, one written quote.

What we organise in Zermatt
A chalet or apartment with a private chef. Our kosher team based in the Alps makes the kitchen kosher and cooks on site. You come back from the Matterhorn slopes to a set table.
Meals delivered in the village. Hot meals brought to your chalet, apartment or hotel for the week, for a family or a group, with notice. Zermatt has no private cars, so tell us exactly where you sleep and how your luggage and food reach the door.
Shabbat. Shabbat meals, challot and wine delivered on Friday and set before candle lighting. Nothing is delivered on Shabbat or on a holiday.
The holidays. Hanukkah, Purim, Pesach or Sukkot in the Swiss mountains. Tell us which holiday falls in your week.
A minyan and a Sefer Torah. The size of a minyan depends on how many families are in the village that week. Give us your dates and we group the families who write to us.
A tailor-made stay, A to Z. Chalet, chef or delivered meals, transfers from the airport to Täsch, Shabbat, the holidays, a minyan: one request, one quote. Families and groups from abroad are our core, including large groups and Hebrew-speaking guests. For a very small group asking for one delivery only, say so and we tell you what is feasible.
Strictly kosher.
Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps.

Kosher in Zermatt
Kosher supervision in a Swiss resort is rarely announced, so plan before you book.
Kosher hotel, restaurant or shop in Zermatt. Plan to bring your food or have it delivered. A search that returns nothing is not proof that nothing exists, and we keep checking.
Chabad house or synagogue in the village. The Chabad centres we know of in Switzerland are in the large cities, Geneva and Zurich among them, far from the Matterhorn.
Season. The lifts of the Matterhorn Ski Paradise ran from 1 November to early May in the 2025-2026 winter. The lift company sets the dates for winter 2026-2027: check them before you book a lift pass.
A village without cars
Täsch, then the train. Drivers stop at the Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch, about 8 km below Zermatt, and take the shuttle train. It runs about every 20 minutes and takes about 12 minutes to the village station.
Electric taxis. Only electric vehicles and horse-drawn carriages move guests and goods inside the village. We plan the delivery of your meals around them, with notice.
Luggage and food. Everything that arrives by road is unloaded at Täsch or at the station. Tell us your chalet or hotel and we plan the last stretch.
Winter, summer and Cervinia
Winter. The Matterhorn Ski Paradise links Zermatt with Cervinia and Valtournenche on the Italian side, with roughly 320 to 360 km of pistes depending on the count. Meals are timed around your ski day and the early sunset.
Summer skiing. On the Theodul Glacier, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3,883 m keeps up to 21 km of pistes for summer skiing, mostly useful in the early morning. In July and August the village is also a base for walkers.
Across to Italy. The crossing to Cervinia takes you out of Switzerland: carry your passport on the slopes, and see kosher in Cervinia if you sleep on the Italian side.
Minyan and Shabbat.

The price depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit to anything.
Getting to Zermatt
Frontier and road. Switzerland is outside the European Union: carry your passport at the border. A car on a Swiss motorway needs the vignette, a sticker or e-vignette sold at the border or online.
From Geneva airport: about 240 km to Täsch, 3 to 3 h 30 by road, then 12 minutes by train. The route runs along Lake Geneva to the Rhône valley, through Visp.
From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport: about 350 km to Täsch, around 4 h to 4 h 30 by road via Geneva. Lyon suits long-haul flights and a first kosher shop before you drive on: Lyon, the gateway to the Alps.
From Zurich: about 3 h 30 by train with changes; Zurich is the other large Swiss airport, with a Chabad presence in the city.
From Milan-Malpensa: about 190 km, around 3 h by road over the Simplon pass and through Brig, with a border crossing. Sion, the small airport of the Valais, is about an hour from Täsch.
Land in Lyon with a few hours to spare? The Stopover: a private 3 hour tour of Jewish Lyon between the plane and the road.

Kosher meals delivered
Kosher meals brought to your accommodation in the resort, ordered through the Beth Habad of the Alps. Give them your dates and the number of people.
Kosher in Zermatt: questions
How much does it cost?
It depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit.
Can you deliver kosher meals to a chalet in Zermatt?
Yes, for a family or a group, for the week, with notice. Zermatt has no private cars, so send your dates, the number of people and the address of your chalet or hotel.
Is there a minyan in Zermatt?
A minyan depends on how many families are there that week. Give us your dates early and we group them, with a Sefer Torah.
Can I ski from Zermatt to Cervinia?
Yes. The Matterhorn Ski Paradise links the two sides, and the crossing leaves Switzerland for Italy, so carry your passport. We also cover Cervinia.
Do you work in summer as well as in winter?
Yes. The glacier keeps summer skiing and the village fills with walkers, and the services are the same: chef, delivered meals, Shabbat, holidays, minyan.
Who supervises the food?
Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps. Tell us your needs with your request and we confirm the details with your quote.
