Val d'Isère, strictly kosher
1,850 m, shared slopes with Tignes up to 3,456 m

Val d'Isère sits at 1,850 m in the Haute Tarentaise and shares one ski area with Tignes, the Tignes-Val d'Isère domain, about 300 km of pistes that climb to 3,456 m. The season is announced from 28 November 2026 to 2 May 2027 in the guides we read. Mishpacha Tours organises the kosher side of your week here: a private chef in your chalet, hot meals delivered to your apartment, Shabbat, the holidays, and a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates. Families from London, Manchester or New York and Hebrew-speaking guests: one request, one written quote. Stays, transfers and meals are organised and invoiced by our kosher team based in the Alps; Mishpacha Tours sells its guided tours in Lyon.

  • 1,850 m, Tignes-Val d'Isère, about 300 km of pistes
  • About 2 h 30 to 3 h from Lyon airport
  • Chef, meals, Shabbat, minyan
  • Checked 8 October 2026

What we organise in Val d'Isère

Strictly kosher. Our team cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps; ask for the supervision details in writing with your quote.

Kosher in Val d'Isère: what is published

  • Kosher hotel, kosher chalet company, kosher shop or restaurant. None is published for Val d'Isère in the sources we read on 8 October 2026. A search for a kosher hotel or a Chabad house in the village returned only general resort pages and private chalet listings.
  • Chabad house. None is published in Val d'Isère. We do not give an address we cannot source.
  • Programmes from tour operators. We found no Val d'Isère programme on the kosher ski listings we read. Ask any operator for the supervision in writing before you book.
  • The clientele. The ski press describes Val d'Isère as an upscale resort with a mostly foreign clientele (skiinfo.fr). Chalets are the usual way to stay, which is why a chef or delivered meals fit here.

Bring your food from Lyon, or let us deliver meals to you.

Minyan and Shabbat in Val d'Isère

No Chabad house and no regular minyan is published in Val d'Isère. Our own minyan depends on how many families are in the resort that week: give us your dates early and we bring a Sefer Torah.

The resort is a long climb: from Bourg-Saint-Maurice it is about 32 km of mountain road, and the road can be slow in snow. Plan Friday arrivals with a wide margin before candle lighting. Shabbat times: check Hebcal for Val d'Isère and your week.

Getting to Val d'Isère

  • From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry. About 220 km, 2 h 30 to 3 h by road without traffic, according to alps2alps.com and other transfer companies. Add an hour on a Saturday in February or in snow.
  • From Geneva. About 225 km. Transfer companies quote between 2 h 40 and 3 h 30, via Annecy and Albertville, so Lyon is the easier arrival for the Alps.
  • By train. Bourg-Saint-Maurice is the station for the valley. The resort is then about 32 km up the mountain road, around 45 minutes by bus, according to alps2alps.com.
  • Shuttles. Winter shuttles run from Lyon airport; details on Lyon, the gateway to the Alps. Transfers can be part of a tailor-made stay, on quote.
  • Kosher groceries before you climb. Lyon has certified shops: what to buy and where.
  • Land in Lyon with a few hours to spare? The Stopover: a private 3 hour tour of Jewish Lyon between the plane and the road.

Skiing, in short

  • One ski area with Tignes. The Tignes-Val d'Isère domain, formerly Espace Killy, offers about 300 km of pistes (skiresort.info, skiinfo.fr). The highest point, 3,456 m, is on the Tignes side, at the Grande Motte.
  • Season 2026-2027. 28 November 2026 to 2 May 2027 in one guide; the lift operator's official dates were not published in the sources we read.
  • Summer skiing. The Pissaillas glacier usually opens in early June, and in recent years the lifts have closed by mid-July, according to alps2alps.com.
