Cervinia, strictly kosher
under the Matterhorn, on the Italian side
Cervinia sits at about 2,050 m at the head of the Valtournenche, in the Aosta Valley in Italy.
Cervinia sits at about 2,050 m at the head of the Valtournenche, in the Aosta Valley in Italy, and its cableway climbs to the Plateau Rosa glacier at 3,480 m. From there the slopes continue to Zermatt in Switzerland, so one lift pass covers two countries. Mishpacha Tours organises the kosher side of your stay here: a private chef in your chalet, hot meals delivered to your apartment, Shabbat, the holidays, and a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates. One request, one written quote.
- About 2,050 m, glacier at 3,480 m
- About 2 h from Turin, 2 h 15 from Milan-Malpensa
- Late October to early May
What we organise in Cervinia
A chalet or apartment with a private chef. Our kosher team based in the Alps makes the kitchen kosher and cooks on site. You come off the Plateau Rosa or back from the Zermatt side to a set table.
Meals delivered in the resort. Hot meals brought to your chalet, apartment or hotel for the week, for a family or a group, with notice. Tell us if you sleep in Cervinia itself or in Valtournenche, lower down the valley.
Shabbat. Shabbat meals, challot and wine delivered on Friday and set before candle lighting. Nothing is delivered on Shabbat or on a holiday. In winter the sun leaves a valley this deep early, so we plan Friday around it.
The holidays. Hanukkah, Purim or Pesach under the Matterhorn. Tell us which holiday falls in your week.
A minyan and a Sefer Torah. The size of a minyan depends on how many families are in the resort that week. Give us your dates and we group the families who write to us.
A tailor-made stay, A to Z. Chalet, chef or delivered meals, transfers from Turin or Milan, Shabbat, the holidays, a minyan: one request, one quote. Families and groups from abroad are our core, including large groups and Hebrew-speaking guests. For a very small group asking for one delivery only, say so and we tell you what is feasible.
Strictly kosher.
Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps.

Kosher in Cervinia: what exists
A seasonal kosher ski week. A tour operator organises a kosher Hanukkah ski week in Cervinia some winters, in a hotel of the resort. Programmes, supervision and Shabbat arrangements belong to that operator: ask them directly, and ask which rabbinical authority supervises the kitchen.
Kosher shop or restaurant in Cervinia. None found. Plan to bring your food or have it delivered.
Synagogue or Chabad house in the Aosta Valley. None found. The Jewish communities of the region sit in Turin and Milan, both about two hours from the resort by road. Chabad is present in both cities.
Season. The lifts of Cervinia and Valtournenche are scheduled to open on 24 October 2026 and close on 2 May 2027. Glacier skiing on the Plateau Rosa usually continues from May to early September when the snow allows; in 2026 it was suspended at the end of July. Check the dates before you book a lift pass.
The Matterhorn side of the ski area
One area, two countries. Cervinia and Valtournenche have about 157 km of slopes, Zermatt about 195 km, and the two are joined through the Cime Bianche Laghi and Plateau Rosa cableway and the Bontadini chairlift. Carry your passport when you ski across.
Altitude. The village is at 2,050 m, Valtournenche starts at 1,620 m, and the top of the glacier is 3,480 m. At that height the village itself holds snow in December.
Friday on the mountain. The Zermatt link is a long way down and back. On a Friday we advise staying on the Italian side so you are back well before candle lighting.
Summer. Cervinia is open in July and August for walking at altitude and, when the snow allows, glacier skiing. Packed lunches for the trail can be prepared with notice.

How it works

Tell us
Cervinia, your dates, the number of people, where you sleep, and what you need: a chef, delivered meals, Shabbat, a holiday, a minyan. By WhatsApp or with the form at the bottom of this page.
- 2
We put it together
The same day, we check with our team in the Alps what is possible for your dates in Cervinia: chef, kitchen, deliveries, minyan. One contact from start to finish.
- 3
You get one quote
The price depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit to anything.
Getting to Cervinia
From Turin airport: about 120 km, 1 h 30 to 2 h by road. It is the closest airport. The last 29 km leave the motorway at Châtillon-Saint-Vincent and climb the valley road to the village.
From Milan-Malpensa: about 160 to 185 km, 2 h to 2 h 30 by road, mostly motorway as far as Châtillon-Saint-Vincent. It suits long-haul flights from the United States.
From Geneva: about 3 h by road, through the Mont Blanc tunnel and down the Aosta Valley. The tunnel charges a toll in each direction and can close for maintenance: check its status before you leave.
From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry: about 4 h 30 to 5 h by road, by the Mont Blanc tunnel or by the Fréjus tunnel and Turin. France and Italy have no border control between them, but carry your passport. Lyon suits a first kosher shop before you cross: Lyon, the gateway to the Alps.
Land in Lyon with a few hours to spare? The Stopover: a private 3 hour tour of Jewish Lyon between the plane and the road.
By train: the nearest station is Châtillon-Saint-Vincent, about 29 km from the village. For a family or a group with luggage, a private transfer is simpler: transfers can be part of a tailor-made stay, on quote.

Kosher meals delivered
Kosher meals brought to your accommodation in the resort, ordered through the Beth Habad of the Alps. Give them your dates and the number of people.
Kosher in Cervinia: questions
How much does it cost?
It depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit.
Can you deliver kosher meals to a chalet in Cervinia?
Yes, for a family or a group, for the week, with notice. Send your dates, the number of people and where you sleep: in the village at 2,050 m or lower in the Valtournenche.
Is there a minyan in Cervinia?
No synagogue or Chabad house is listed in the Aosta Valley. A minyan depends on how many families are in the resort that week. Give us your dates early and we group them, with a Sefer Torah.
Can we ski to Zermatt and be back for Shabbat?
On a weekday, yes: the link runs through the Plateau Rosa. On a Friday we advise staying on the Italian side, because the way back is long and candle lighting comes early in winter. Nothing is delivered on Shabbat.
Is it easy to cross from France to Italy with a group?
Yes. France and Italy have no border control between them, and the road goes through the Mont Blanc tunnel or the Fréjus tunnel. Each tunnel charges a toll, and everyone carries a passport. We can arrange the transfer from Turin, Milan or Lyon on quote.
Who supervises the food?
Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps. The supervision details come with your quote.
Cervinia: your week, organised.
Tell us your dates. We send a day-by-day programme the same day.
