St. Moritz, strictly kosher
in the Engadine, above the frozen lake in winter
St.
Moritz sits at about 1,822 m in the Engadine, in the canton of Graubünden, around a lake that freezes in winter and hosts racing and polo on the ice. Three ski areas share the valley: Corviglia above the town, Corvatsch to the south and Diavolezza on the road to the Bernina Pass. Mishpacha Tours organises the kosher side of your stay here: a private chef in your chalet, hot meals delivered to your apartment or hotel, Shabbat, the holidays, and a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates. One request, one written quote.

What we organise in St. Moritz
A chalet or apartment with a private chef. Our kosher team based in the Alps makes the kitchen kosher and cooks on site. In winter you come back from Corviglia to a set table; in summer, from the lakeside paths.
Meals delivered in the Engadine. Hot meals brought to your chalet, apartment or hotel for the week, for a family or a group, with notice. Tell us if you sleep in St. Moritz Dorf, in St. Moritz Bad or in a village along the valley, since the distances between them change the delivery plan.
Shabbat. Shabbat meals, challot and wine delivered on Friday and set before candle lighting. Nothing is delivered on Shabbat or on a holiday.
The holidays. Hanukkah, Purim, Pesach or a summer week in the month of Av. Tell us which holiday falls in your week.
A minyan and a Sefer Torah. The size of a minyan depends on how many families are in the valley that week. Give us your dates and we group the families who write to us.
A tailor-made stay, A to Z. Chalet, chef or delivered meals, transfers from Zurich or Milan, Shabbat, the holidays, a minyan: one request, one quote. Families and groups from abroad are our core, including large groups and Hebrew-speaking guests. For a very small group asking for one delivery only, say so and we tell you what is feasible.
Strictly kosher.
Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps.

Kosher in St. Moritz
Supervision changes from one season to the next, so check before you book.
Seasonal kosher programmes. Some hotels in St. Moritz host seasonal kosher programmes, with a supervised kitchen, services and Torah scrolls for a few weeks in winter and in summer. Hotel names and dates change each year and we have no confirmed dates for winter 2026-2027. A hotel that was once the centre of kosher life in the town has closed.
Kosher shop or restaurant. None found in St. Moritz. Visiting families bring their own supplies or have food delivered, and use the town supermarkets for fresh produce.
Chabad house or permanent synagogue. None found in the Engadine. Services take place during the programme weeks only. The nearest Jewish community is in Zurich, about 3 hours away by road, where a Chabad presence exists.
Self-catering stays. Many families rent an apartment or a chalet and arrange their own kosher meals. That is the case where a private chef or delivered meals make the difference.
Winter and summer in the Engadine
Winter. Corviglia rises from the town to Piz Nair at 3,056 m, Corvatsch tops out at 3,303 m, and Diavolezza has long runs facing the Bernina massif. The lake freezes: horse races take place on it in February and polo is played on snow. The Cresta Run, a natural-ice toboggan track, runs through the Cresta valley beside the town.
Summer. The ski lifts carry walkers and cyclists up to Corviglia and Piz Nair, and the lakes of the Upper Engadine have marked paths all around them. Lej Alv, a small reservoir lake, is a walk from Corviglia. Packed lunches for the trail can be prepared with notice.
Minyan and Shabbat. With no permanent synagogue in the town, a minyan is built from the families who write to us for your dates, with a Sefer Torah.

You get one quote
The price depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit to anything.
Getting to St. Moritz
From Zurich airport: about 2 h 30 to 3 h by road, and about 3 h 30 to 4 h by train with changes, the last stretch on the Rhaetian Railway from Chur. Zurich is also where the nearest Jewish community lives.
From Milan Malpensa: about 3 h by road. By train it takes about 5 h 30 via Milan and Tirano, finishing on the Bernina line.
Engadin Airport, Samedan: 6 to 7 km from St. Moritz, used mostly by private aircraft. Check the schedule for your date before you count on it.
From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport by road: about 6 h 30 on the fastest route, more through Geneva and Zurich. Lyon suits long-haul flights and a first kosher shop before you drive: Lyon, the gateway to the Alps.
Switzerland is outside the EU. Carry passports for everyone, including children. A motorway vignette is required on Swiss motorways and is best bought before the border. In winter, check road and pass conditions on the day.
Land in Lyon with a few hours to spare? The Stopover: a private 3 hour tour of Jewish Lyon between the plane and the road.

Kosher in St. Moritz: questions
How much does it cost?
It depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit.
Can you deliver kosher meals to a chalet in St. Moritz?
Yes, for a family or a group, for the week, with notice. Send your dates, the number of people and where you sleep in the valley. Because St. Moritz is in Switzerland, the delivery is planned around the border, so give us your arrival date early.
Is there a minyan in St. Moritz?
No Chabad house or permanent synagogue is known in the Engadine. A minyan depends on how many families are there that week, in winter or in summer. Give us your dates early and we group them, with a Sefer Torah.
Do you work in summer as well as in winter?
Yes. The valley is open to walkers and cyclists in summer and to skiers in winter, and the services are the same: chef, delivered meals, Shabbat, holidays, minyan.
Can you organise a stay for a large group?
Yes. Groups and families from abroad are our core. Send the number of people, the dates and what you need, and you receive one written quote.
Who supervises the food?
Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps. Everything we serve is Chalav Yisrael.
