Chamonix, strictly kosher
under Mont Blanc, in winter and in summer
Chamonix sits at about 1,040 m in the Arve valley, at the foot of Mont Blanc, and the Aiguille du Midi cable car climbs from the town to 3,842 m. The valley is busy in winter for skiing and again in summer for walking and the high mountain. Mishpacha Tours organises the kosher side of your stay here: a private chef in your chalet, hot meals delivered to your apartment, Shabbat, the holidays, and a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates. One request, one written quote. Stays, transfers and meals are organised and invoiced by our kosher team based in the Alps; Mishpacha Tours sells its guided tours in Lyon.

What we organise in Chamonix
- A chalet or apartment with a private chef. Our kosher team based in the Alps makes the kitchen kosher and cooks on site. In winter you come back from the slopes to a set table; in summer, from the trail.
- Meals delivered in the valley. Hot meals brought to your chalet, apartment or hotel for the week, for a family or a group, with notice. Tell us if you sleep in Chamonix itself or in a village up or down the valley.
- Shabbat. Shabbat meals, challot and wine delivered on Friday and set before candle lighting. Nothing is delivered on Shabbat or on a holiday.
- The holidays. Hanukkah, Purim, Pesach or Sukkot in the mountains. Tell us which holiday falls in your week.
- A minyan and a Sefer Torah. The size of a minyan depends on how many families are in the valley that week, in winter and in summer. Give us your dates and we group the families who write to us.
- A tailor-made stay, A to Z. Chalet, chef or delivered meals, transfers, Shabbat, the holidays, a minyan: one request, one quote. Families and groups from abroad are our core, including large groups and Hebrew-speaking guests. For a very small group asking for one delivery only, say so and we tell you what is feasible.
Strictly kosher. Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps; ask for the supervision details in writing with your quote. Detail of each service: kosher services in the French Alps.
Kosher in Chamonix: what is published
Supervision is rarely published, so ask before you book. This is what we found, checked 8 October 2026.
- Kosher hotel, restaurant or shop in Chamonix. None published in the sources we read. Plan to bring your food or have it delivered.
- Chabad house in the valley. None published for Chamonix. The nearest Chabad presence we know of is in Megève, about 35 km away: see kosher in Megève.
- Group trips. The Jewish student organisation Aish on Campus listed a week of chalets in Chamonix for March 2022, with skiing by day and Jewish learning in the evening. The listing does not mention kosher catering and the dates have passed.
- Season. The ski lifts of the valley open in stages from late November to April, and Grands Montets is being rebuilt, with new lifts announced for December 2026. Dates for winter 2026-2027 are not confirmed by the operators we found: check before you book a lift pass.

Winter and summer in the valley
- Winter. The ski areas run from the town at about 1,040 m up to 2,767 m at Grands Montets and 2,519 m at Brévent and Flégère (alti-mag.com). Les Houches and Le Tour-Vallorcine complete the valley. Meals are timed around your ski day and the early sunset.
- Summer. The Aiguille du Midi cable car is open all year according to the weather, and the Mont Blanc massif is the reason many families come in July and August. Packed lunches for the trail can be prepared with notice.
- Minyan and Shabbat. No synagogue is published in Chamonix. A minyan is built from the families who write to us for your dates, with a Sefer Torah. Shabbat times change every week: check them for your dates on Hebcal.

Getting to Chamonix
- From Geneva airport: about 1 h 15 to 1 h 30 by road, the closest airport, about 82 to 88 km by the A40 (alps2alps.com, checked 8 October 2026). Add time at the Swiss border and on a winter Saturday.
- From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport: about 220 km, 2 h 15 to 3 h depending on traffic (alps2alps.com). Lyon suits long-haul flights and a first kosher shop before you climb: Lyon, the gateway to the Alps.
