Crans-Montana, strictly kosher
on the sunny plateau above the Rhône valley

Crans-Montana sits on a south-facing plateau at about 1,500 m, above Sierre in the Valais, and its glacier at Plaine Morte reaches 2,927 m.

The plateau fills with skiers in winter and with golfers and walkers in summer, and the Swiss border is the only formality between France and your chalet. Mishpacha Tours organises the kosher side of your stay here: a private chef in your chalet, hot meals delivered to your apartment, Shabbat, the holidays, and a minyan and a Sefer Torah for your dates. One request, one written quote.

What we organise in Crans-Montana

Strictly kosher. Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps. Detail of each service: kosher services in the Alps.

Kosher in Crans-Montana

Supervision is rarely written down, so check before you book.

  • Kosher hotel. One hotel on the plateau carries a kosher listing, but its own page limits kosher meals to private religious groups and mentions a closure for renovation. Do not plan a family stay around it.
  • Kosher restaurant or shop. None found in the resort. Plan to bring your food or have it delivered.
  • Synagogue. A synagogue stands on Rue Centrale and opens by season: from 1 December to 31 March in winter and from 1 July to 31 August in summer, with weekday prayers and Shabbat services. Those dates are from a 2024 document, so we confirm them for your week.
  • Nearest large communities. Lausanne is about 1 h 30 away and Geneva about 2 h, both with community restaurants and caterers. Plan any shopping there before the week starts.
  • Season. The lifts are announced from 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, with a partial opening from 28 November if snow allows. The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships take place in Crans-Montana from 1 to 14 February 2027: book early for those dates.

Getting to Crans-Montana

  • From Geneva airport: about 2 h by road along the A9 in the Rhône valley, leaving at Sierre-Ouest, then about 25 minutes up to the plateau. Direct trains run from the airport to Sierre in about 2 h 10.
  • From Sierre station: the funicular takes 13 minutes to the resort, and a red line on the pavement leads from the platform to its station, about 5 minutes on foot.
  • From Sion: about 25 minutes by car, or a PostBus of about 50 minutes.
  • From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry: about 3 h 30 to 3 h 45 by road through Geneva. Lyon suits long-haul flights and a first kosher shop before you climb: Lyon, the gateway to the Alps.
  • Crossing from France: carry a passport or identity card for every traveller, children included, and buy the Swiss motorway vignette online before the border, as the A9 is a vignette motorway.
  • Land in Lyon with a few hours to spare? The Stopover: a private 3 hour tour of Jewish Lyon between the plane and the road.

Kosher in Crans-Montana: questions

How much does it cost?

It depends on the dates, the number of people and the menu. You receive a written quote before you commit.

Can you deliver kosher meals to a chalet in Crans-Montana?

Yes, for a family or a group, for the week, with notice. Send your dates, the number of people and whether you sleep in Crans, in Montana or in a village on the plateau.

Is there a minyan in Crans-Montana?

A synagogue on Rue Centrale opens from 1 December to 31 March and from 1 July to 31 August. Outside those weeks, and when a group is small, a minyan depends on how many families are on the plateau. Give us your dates early and we group them, with a Sefer Torah.

Do you work in summer as well as in winter?

Yes. The plateau is open to golfers and walkers in summer and to skiers in winter, and the services are the same: chef, delivered meals, Shabbat, holidays, minyan.

Can you organise a stay for a large group?

Yes. Groups and families from abroad are our core. Send the number of people, the dates and what you need, and you receive one written quote. For the week of the World Championships in February 2027, write early.

Who supervises the food?

Our kosher team based in the Alps cooks under the Chabad network of the Alps. The supervision details come with your quote.
